A mockumentary created as a final BA project. Set in the early days of social media culture, the film follows four women whose personalities are shaped by the platforms they inhabit. From a Tumblr dreamer and a Tinder romantic to a Facebook model and an outspoken Twitter troll, each character offers a playful portrait of online identity, self-presentation, and digital life.
Performed by artist Suzannah Pettigrew, the film explores the blurred line between our online personas and real-world selves.
Looking back, The Social Networking Girls captures a particular moment in internet culture and reflects many of the themes of identity, performance, and community that continue to shape my work today.
